French Navy schooner La Belle Poule (reminder of the book Pêcheurs d'Islande by Pierre Loti). Similar sailships were used in fishing cods campaigns from Paimpol to Iceland early last century. These pidgeons came from nowhere right at the midle of the Atlantic Ocean. In the old times at Paimpol a schooner captain used to preserve pidgeons onboard during his campaigns freeing them to warn his wife he was sailing home
